Hi everyone!
I can't believe that vacation is over and that it's already May! I looked at the calendar and counted how many weeks we have left, 7! That is crazy!! I'm very excited for the summer but I'm not ready for this school year to be over. I hope that everyone had a relaxing vacation, I know I did. My fiancé (Sam) and I went to Florida to visit some of his family and we had the joy of driving his grandparents car back for them...It was a long road trip home, but we had fun! The kids had a chance to share about their vacations with me last week, it sounds like everyone had a fun time.

Since there are only 7 weeks left in 4th grade, there is a lot we have left to do. We're finally starting to write our information books on the Revolutionary War, we are moving on from fractions/decimals to work on larger multiplication and division, we're starting a new unit on rock patterns in science, and in reading we're going to work on our comprehension skills while learning about our great state, Maine!

Also, just a reminder that letters for TWO field trips have been sent home. Reminder letters for what to bring, information for volunteers, and more will be sent home before the field trips happen :)

This is a very busy time with the end of the school year, so check back for updates and don't hesitate to contact me with any questions!

6,000 Dojo Point Reward!!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I am very proud to share with you that our class has reached a total ‘all time’ of 6,000 Dojo Points! It has taken hard word, dedication, patience, and lots of perseverance to get to 6,000 Dojo Points. After much consideration and a few rounds of ‘voting’ the winning reward is ELECTRONIC DAY! We are going to have ELECTRONIC DAY on Friday, April 7th.
Electronic day will be much like a normal day in 4th grade, except we will have a 30 minute block of ‘free time’ for electronic use in the morning and then another 30 minutes in the afternoon. I will be making sure that the kids are only using appropriate sites/apps/etc. I will be monitoring the room very closely to make sure that they are being safe, appropriate and kind in how they are using their electronics.
Your child is more than welcome to bring in their own electronic to use for the day. I have discussed with them that IT IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY to take care of the electronic while it is here at school.  In our classroom we have 10 Chromebooks that the kids can use. These are here for use if you don’t want to send your child in with their electronic (completely understandable) or if they don’t have an electronic to bring in.
If you have any questions or concerns at all please do not hesitate to contact me. You may reach me through Class Dojo messages, or my email:

Thank you!

Revolutionary War!

As you know, we have been studying the Revolutionary War for awhile now! After learning about the causes of the war, the battles of the war and the outcome of the war...we moved on to learn about the many important people in the war. I assigned each student one person from the war. I then told the students that they would become EXPERTS on that person, create a slideshow all about them and then teach to the rest of the class about that person! They were very excited to do this 'project' and explore with google slides, they learned a lot more about making slideshows than I even know!  Today we finished presenting our presentations and I can definitely say that everyone really enjoyed this project! The kids made their slideshow on their person through google slides. That means they can access their google accounts at home and show you their slideshow if you want to see it!!

I am very proud of their hard work :) Make sure to ask your child about theirs and take a look at it if you can!

Vacation has come to an end!

I can't believe that vacation is over and that it's practically March! We have quickly gotten back in to the swing of things at school! I want to take a moment and thank everyone who brought in goodies for our valentine's day festivities! It was a blur of a week but we had fun and the treats were great! :)

Now that we're back in the swing of things it feels good. We started new guided reading chapter books, we're digging deeper into the Revolutionary War, we're still going strong with fractions and we're continuing to study the 50 states and their capitals. Along with many other things we're also reading an awesome read aloud book, Wonder. The kids are loving it so far and I love sharing my love for reading with them.

Coming up this month:
- A new book order will be sent home in a few days
- The week of March 20th we will begin the Spring NWEA testing
- Thursday, March 23rd the second Trimester will end
- Friday, March 24th is an inservice day and there will be no school
- Wednesday, March 29th the 4th graders will be viewing the puberty videos, please make sure to send in the signed form from Nurse Kaitlyn
- Friday, March 31st report cards will be sent home

January Update!

I can't quite believe that January is almost over, it's crazy! With the new year we have started some new things in the classroom. We are doing book clubs in reading, and the kids are loving it so far! We've also started learning about the Revolutionary War. I love teaching the Revolutionary War and it's what will bring us to our next writing unit, informational writing! Before we move on to the informational writing unit we will finish up our opinion essays. The kids are working really heard on these essays, make sure to ask your child about theirs! I'm excited to add that we've officially learned all of the 50 states, their locations, and their capitals! We're going to spend the next few weeks studying them all before the final 4th grade wide competition! Lastly, we're wrapping up our addition and subtraction of larger numbers unit and moving on to FRACTIONS! I love math and I can't wait to do some exciting hands on activities for fractions!

Also . . .

*Weekly spelling homework and nightly reading are still going on and the kids are working hard to stay in homework club!

*A new book order for February will be sent home in the next few days, keep your eyes out for it!

*Colds/Flus are going around like crazy right now! If you are able to donate clorox wipes, tissues, or even a bag of cough drops to our room that would be great!!

I hope you all had a great January and are getting excited for February vacation, just a few weeks away! :)

4,000 Dojo Points

4,000 Dojo Points!!

I can't believe that as a class we've made it to 4,000 dojo points. That means that as a class we've earned 4,000 points for: making good choices, getting compliments from other adults, showing kindness, following directions, listening to the teacher, participating, teamwork, persistence, being respectful and helping others!! Wow, that's a lot of good work! To celebrate we're wearing PJs and watching a movie tomorrow afternoon!! (Please no stuffed animals, blankets or slippers please! Bath robes are allowed though!)

*Be sure to congratulate your child on their hard work in our classroom!! It was a team effort and we couldn't have done it without everyone :)
